dabuka has been conducting exploration tours in remote desert areas since 1983. the enterprise was officially founded in 1996 in germany. beside the mainstream we conduct extraordinary adventure and exploration trips. following the trails of old camel caravans, supported by modern equipment we are discovering new traces of life in the desert. dabuka show you the land and its people in a very special way, far from the usual tourist tracks. we take you on exciting adventure tours, a unique desert experience where we introduce you to huge sand dunes, tranquil wadis and untrodden paths. our specialization is the challenging trip to the gilf kebir plateau and the great sand sea in south west egypt. some of our special trips in recent years have been expeditions for german-egyptian scientific projects in the great sand sea and one in 1997 for students from the “freie universität berlin”. the destinations of the company concentrated since the foundation upon egypt. in 1998 the offer was expanded to libya and tunisia. since 2000 we carry out camel trekking tours in egypt. in 2003 we positioned ourselves to a new challenge and carried out several expeditions successfully in sudan. in 2008 we also started with trekking tours and took jordan into our programme. in march 2014, we held the event in the footsteps of the prince kamal expedition, which was one of a kind since such a challenging mission has never been done before, commemorating the anniversary of the memorial plaque of prince kamal el din hussein who discovered the gilf kebir plateau in the western desert of egypt in 1925 (http://www.kamalexpedition.com/start.html). dabuka - the name is a former much used arabian name for a big moving camel caravan consisting of 100 or more camels. the best known dabukas operated on the legendary „darb al arbay´n“, from el fasher in the sudan to asyut in egypt.
